AN ENDLESS ORGANIC REVOLUTION

In 2023 – Nomisma data – despite inflation, the Italian organic market marked sales of nearly 5.4 billion euros. An explosion of taste that involved mostly out-of-home consumption (+18% compared to 2021) and brought the value to almost 1.3 billion euros, while domestic consumption marked +5%, confirming that the passion for organic is more alive than ever.

SANA Food welcomes leading organic producers, those who adopt sustainable farming practices, the controlled supply chain, associations, distributors and consortia that have always believed in the validity of organic and biodynamic production.

EMBRACING FREEDOM OF CHOICE: 'FREE FROM'

The 'free from' sector in Italy generates an annual turnover of 6.9 billion euros (source: Nielsen). Among consumers, in addition to the certified intolerant and the sensitive person, there are also those who choose the free from product as a healthy alternative that is more appropriate to a healthy lifestyle.

SANA Food exhibitors will offer a wide range of 'free-from' options, with innovative products and solutions to meet different dietary needs.

NUTRIENT-RICH INNOVATIONS: 'ENRICHED BY'

SANA Food also opens its doors to the world of 'enriched by' products, essential nutrients in which the topics of sports nutrition, food for the elderly and for children are increasing their market share.

Increasing consumer demand has determined the direction of production: +23.5 percent, with higher shares relating to fiber-rich products (14.2 percent) and whole grains (7.8 percent). Protein, on the other hand, marks -5.3% although the latter remains the area of greatest development for conventional products (source: Nomisma).

THE EXUBERANT VEGAN AND VEGETARIAN WORLD

SANA Food is proud to host a vibrant exhibition sector dedicated to the vegan, vegetarian and plant-based lifestyle, which is constantly innovating, finding alternative and tasty solutions to the traditional diet of animal proteins.

This sector is driven by sustainable and ethical choices, and is reaching staggering market numbers: suffice it to say that 40 percent of global consumers expect to switch to plant-based foods in the next 10 years. Among the consumers surveyed, those between the ages of 16 and 40 (Gen Z and Millennials) and from 10 different countries are particularly surprising: 66 percent of them expect to increase their consumption of plant-based products

Generational trends clearly favor the growth of plant-based products, underlining the importance of responding especially to the preferences of younger consumers.

ROOTS AND FUTURE: ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY OF PDO/PGI/TSG (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed) PRODUCTS

Pdo/Pgi/Tsg (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed) products represent a precious heritage, combining the protection of the territory with the promotion of high quality food production that is sustainable and respectful of local traditions.

Choosing and appreciating these products means supporting environmental protection and preserving a unique cultural heritage.
