Just launched is the first edition of the Food Supplements Review produced by 'Integratori Italia' (Italian Association of Food Product Industries - Aiipa). Its target is to shed light on the active ingredients, features and needs of different age groups.
Although it is difficult to demonstrate scientifically the clinically relevant benefits of food supplements, many publications confirm that their ingredients - be they vitamins, minerals, prebiotics, probiotics, vegetable extracts, etc. – can make a positive contribution to individual health and well-being.
The consumption of food supplements is growing in Italy too. In addition to enviable standards of quality and safety, “Italy is one of the technologically most advanced nations for the development of green extraction protocols: selective, efficient and with a low environmental impact", says Gianluca Cravotto, Head of Turin University’s Department of Drug Science and Technology.
