February 2026
The Consorzio Chiaramonte operates in the Monti Iblei area, in south-eastern Sicily, a region historically devoted to high-quality olive growing. It brings together producers and mills committed to enhancing extra virgin olive oil derived mainly from the Tonda Iblea cultivar, a distinctive symbol of the territory. The Consortium’s mission is to protect origin, promote certified quality, and spread awareness of extra virgin olive oil as a functional food within the Mediterranean diet.
What inspired your participation in SANA Food 2026, and what goals or expectations are guiding you in this new edition?
SANA Food represents a strategic context to engage with a qualified and conscious audience, attentive to sustainability, health, and traceability. Our participation stems from the desire to present Monti Iblei olive oil not merely as an agricultural product, but as an expression of biodiversity, territory, and continuous research into quality. Our goal is to strengthen commercial relationships in the premium segment and reinforce the perception of extra virgin olive oil as a high-value nutritional product, characterized by a significant phenolic profile and quality parameters monitored throughout the supply chain.
Today’s consumers are increasingly conscious about health and well-being. How has this awareness influenced your production choices or inspired new product concepts?
The growing focus on health and well-being has guided our choices toward sustainable agronomic practices, early harvesting, and temperature-controlled extraction processes aimed at preserving the oil’s bioactive fraction, particularly phenolic compounds.
At the same time, we invest in scientific communication to raise awareness of the antioxidant properties of extra virgin olive oil and its role in preventing oxidative stress-related conditions. Our aim is to turn purchasing into an informed decision based on certified quality and guaranteed origin.
Tradition and innovation often go hand in hand in a company’s growth journey. How do you manage to honor your roots while giving them a contemporary interpretation?
The olive landscape of Chiaramonte is characterized by centuries-old trees and a valuable genetic heritage. However, tradition remains meaningful only if it evolves. We combine historical cultivation practices with modern quality monitoring tools, chemical-physical analyses, and digital traceability systems, ensuring high and consistent standards. In doing so, we preserve authenticity while strengthening competitiveness in international markets.
Transparency, sustainability, and traceability have become essential values in today’s market. How do you bring these principles to life in your distribution practices?
The Consortium promotes controlled and certified supply chains, where every phase—from agronomic management to milling—is documented and verifiable. Traceability is not only a regulatory requirement but a foundation of consumer trust. Sustainability is approached from environmental (soil and biodiversity protection), economic (enhancing farmers’ income), and social (preserving rural communities) perspectives. In distribution, we prioritize partners aligned with these principles, fostering coherent and responsible market positioning.
